Environment
Lithology: not described
Taphonomic context: human accumulation, rock shelter
Archaeology: stone tools
Habitat comments: "The rockshelter is located in the northeast side of a large granite dome known as Little Makwe kopje at 1000-1050 m above sea level on the grassy, well-watered plateau of the Zambian Highveld (Phillipson, 1973, 1976). The rockshelter itself is formed by an overhang 20 m long and 9 m high extending 8.5 m into the granite dome. The presence of large boulders restricts the surface area to~45 m2"
there are lithics but no ceramics except for "A few pieces of pottery" interpreted as due "to localized disturbance and/or stratigraphic inconsistencies"

Methods
Life forms: ungulates
Sampling methods: quarry
Sample size: 39 specimens
Net or trap nights: 0

Sampling comments: "Details of the exca-vations can be found inPhillipson (1976)." - I can't actually seem to get a copy of this volume, but I assume the years of excavation are in there.
