Norte Casa Chiguaje meter 4 to 8 (Pleistocene of Venezuela)

Also known as Vergel member

Where: Falcon, Venezuela (11.3° N, 70.2° W: paleocoordinates 11.2° N, 69.9° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Vergel Member (San Gregorio Formation), Early/Lower Pleistocene (2.6 - 0.8 Ma)

• The Vergel Member is the lowest member of the San gregorio Formation

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: alluvial fan; mudstone and sandstone

• The depositional environment is interpreted as an alluvial plain, with braided rivers, under subhumid conditions
• The sedimentary sequence represents the accumulation in distal alluvial fans and includes primarily mudstone and intercalations of fine- to coarse-grained sandstone with discontinuous beds of pebbly conglomerate (Quiróz and Jaramillo 2010)
